PRE-INSTALLATION checklist

IS YOUR SITE READY FOR YOUR UNIT?

  • Make sure the ground is level. The newly built structure cannot be more than 3 inches off level from either front/back or left/right. Ensure that you have cleared the area of debris, machinery or tools so installation team can access the site. In case the area isn’t leveled when our team arrives for installation, if possible, they may offer to level the site for you. However, this will cost you an extra fee.

  • Carports can be installed on soil foundation, however, if you’re choosing the soil as the foundation, you must prepare the site by removing any kind of vegetation, grass or debris.

  • If you wish to use a concrete pad as the permanent foundation, you must have the area completely ready; concrete fully cured and settled, before our experts can start installing the structure.

  • Make sure that the concrete pad meets the guidelines made by local authority, and get it checked beforehand by an expert so there aren’t any issues during installation or the certification process.

  • Your carport installation site should be accessible. Most Install Team will arrive in a Large Pick-Up Truck with a 30'-40' Trailer. (Sharp Turns, Steep Hills, or limited Space can cause issues)

DESIGN CRITERIA IN YOUR AREA

The weather in your area determines what kind of carport you would need.

When purchasing a Carport, it is important to consider the wind load certification to ensure that the structure can withstand high winds, especially if the building is located in an area known for inclement weather.  Note: Consult your local building department for your specific Snow Load requirements.

Any other criteria/requirements such as “extra snow load baring weight and wind load resistance” can be met with engineering certification “upon customer’s request.” Customized steel structures are always welcomed.

Certainly! Customizing your metal carport design allows you to create a structure that meets your specific needs and complements your property. Here are some ways you can customize your metal carport:

  1. Size and Dimensions:
    • Determine the dimensions you need based on the number of vehicles you want to shelter and any additional space requirements (e.g., storage, workshop).
    • Metal carports can be single-car, double-car, or even larger to accommodate RVs or boats.

  1. Roof Style:
    • Choose from different roof styles:
      • Regular Roof: Simple and cost-effective, with a rounded shape.
      • A-Frame (Boxed Eave) Roof: Aesthetic appeal with horizontal panels.
      • Vertical Roof: Best for shedding rain, snow, and debris efficiently.

  1. Color Options:
    • Most metal carport manufacturers offer a variety of colors for the roof, trim, and side panels.
    • Select colors that match your home or blend well with the surroundings.

  1. Anchoring and Foundation:
    • Decide on the anchoring method (concrete, asphalt, or ground anchors) based on your location and soil type.
    • Ensure a stable foundation to prevent shifting or tilting.

  1. Side Panels and Enclosures:
    • Customize the sides of your carport:
      • Open-Sided: Provides shelter from above but remains open on the sides.
      • Partially Enclosed: Includes side panels for added protection.
      • Fully Enclosed: Turn your carport into a garage with walls and a door.

  1. Additional Features:
    • Gutters and Downspouts: Divert rainwater away from the carport.
    • Skylights: Allow natural light inside.
    • Windows and Doors: Add functionality and aesthetics.

  1. Certification and Permits:
    • Check local regulations and obtain any necessary permits.
    • Some metal carports come with certification for wind and snow loads.
